Eucalyptus melanophloia Silver-leaved ironbark |
SUBGENUS SYMPHYOMYRTUS Section Adnataria |
Description: This species from South Australia/Queensland. One of the most widespread of the ironbarks, this hardy tree will tolerate most soil types and is tolerant of frost and periodic drought. The leaves are a pleasing silvery color and the bark is hard and very dark. The tree grows reasonably quickly and is well suited to hard exposed situations. The white flowers contrast quite well with the juvenile/intermediate leaves of silvery-blue to make quite an attractive canopy.
