Angophora Contains a distinct class of what was previously known as a Eucalyptus species. There are currently only 12 species classified in the Angophora class. They are all native to Eastern Australia, they do not have an operculum (bud cap) and the flowers are always white and the leaves are opposite. We currently offer 2 species.

Angophora hispida (cordifolia): Scrub Apple, Dwarf Apple: Adult leaves are heart shaped (cordate) to opposite leaves and the branches and leaves have reddish hairs and new growth can be a reddish-purple color.This species also produces the twisted branches like Angophora costata, but is much smaller and fits better in the garden setting (7-20'). The profuse flowers are white and appear in summer in large clusters, then are followed by cup shaped fruits. It is a very handsome plant with an informal, twisted habit. May take moderate frosts once established. NSW, Qld, Vic. Zone 9. |
